Stakeholder's Meeting: Prevention & Early Intervention with At-Risk Juveniles
In May, stakeholders in education, child welfare, mental health, and juvenile justice participated in a working group meeting at UC Berkeley, funded by the Zellerbach Family Foundation. The meeting is part of a project designed to advance understanding of how and when to intervene with youth at risk for violence and involvement in the justice system.
The meeting focused on a research agenda drafted by a team of developmental scientists. Stakeholders worked through the agenda to articulate concrete, policy-relevant priorities for informing the timing and targets of innovative interventions for these young people. The goal is to identify neurodevelopmental windows of opportunity for precise intervention that can nudge at risk youth toward prosocial, healthy, and productive adulthoods.
