The Harry Frank Guggenheim foundation recently published a research and policy brief by journalist Mark Obbie, titled, “Mass Shootings: Causes and Prevention“. In the brief, Obbie distills state of the art thinking on one of the most pressing issues of the twenty-first century. The brief synthesizes articles that were written by leading researchers and published in a special issue of Criminology & Public Policy. This includes Jennifer Skeem and Edward Mulvey’s analysis of the link between mental health and mass shootings, and its implications for policies that could better prevent these tragedies.
